Forex Rollover and Swap Costs on EURUSD

Forex Rollover and Swap Costs on EURUSD

EURUSD positions held through the broker’s rollover time accrue financing based on both currencies, broker adjustments, and contract rules. The same direction can carry different costs across accounts.

Build the chart or workflow

Check long and short swap, cutoff time, and triple-day accrual in the actual contract specification. TradingView can mark the New York 5 p.m. area, but the broker’s terms determine the charge.

How to interpret the result

One night may be small, but accumulated carry changes a swing trade’s reward-to-risk. Holidays and settlement schedules can shift or concentrate accrual.

Common failure modes

Estimating account swap directly from macro rate differentials or assuming positive carry guarantees profit ignores broker markups and exchange-rate risk.

A repeatable checklist

  1. Read contract specs before entry
  2. log long and short financing
  3. budget triple days
  4. separate swap from price P&L in review
Practical questions:

Can this be used as a standalone trading signal?

No. Treat it as one piece of context. Price structure, liquidity, execution cost, and a predefined invalidation point still decide whether a trade is justified.

When should the setup be checked again?

Recheck whenever the symbol, exchange feed, interval, session definition, or indicator input changes. Those choices can materially change what the chart shows.
